For 25 years, the SAPA (Sexual Aggression Peer Advocates) program has worked to provide 24/7 confidential crisis and support services to all who have been impacted by sexual assault, domestic/intimate partner violence, stalking, and harassment. The program offers these individuals a confidential space to consider options, gather information, be connected to resources, and gain support.
SAPA services are open to all CMU students, faculty, and staff support, and they include crisis/support phone line, texting, and in person services during the academic year. In addition, they can assist those who contact them in gaining access to resources, which includes temporary safe shelter, reporting options, medical attention, and more. Advocates also provide free educational programming and awareness events throughout the year.
Established in 1997, over 475 CMU students have served as advocates during the course of our history. It is because of alumni and current member efforts that we are able to provide CMU and the campus community with advocacy for those who have been impacted by sexual aggression. We are constantly evolving to provide the best and most accessible services and educational opportunities to our community. Any funds received will help to continue these efforts and support SAPA services, advocates, as well as educational and outreach efforts.
