Support student professional development as the field of Public Health is everchanging!!!

Active involvement in public health professional activities is one of the most effective ways we can expose students to advanced practices and networking. To that end, the Jodi Brookins Fisher Professional Development Fund aims to expand student ability to attend professional conferences and other activities aligned with their field of study (such as Great Lakes Society for Public Health Education, Society for Public Health Education, American Public Health Association, Eta Sigma Gamma).

As a first-generation college student, Dr. Brookins-Fisher remembers and appreciates the opportunities CMU once gave her as an undergraduate in public health education. Some of those early networking experiences at professional conferences established lifelong public health connections of which she wants her students to establish and grow. The transformative experience of attending a regional or national meeting where students interact with professionals in their chosen field can motivate them to excel in their coursework and finish their degree. In the past, opportunities like this have been limited to a select group of highly achieving students. With your financial support, the JBF Professional Development Fund can increase the number of students we send to conferences and other professional development activities, regardless of whether they are making a presentation.
